Rumor Has It

Our goal is to make sure our parents, students, staff and community members have accurate information. Rumors spread more quickly than ever in the era of social media. Our way to combat misinformation is to provide explanations to rumors that are spreading throughout the district. If you hear a rumor that may concern you or your child, consider the following:

  • Identify the source. If it is a classroom concern, your first contact should be your child's teacher. If the issue is school-related, your first contact should be the principal or assistant principal.
  • Read the information sent home from school with your child and check the school or district website for updates.
  • Below are the answers to some of the most common questions or rumors we've heard from parents, teachers and the community.
  • If you have heard a rumor you do not see below, please Contact Us.

Renewals of volunteer applications are no longer required. Volunteer applications are now online and are only required to be filled out once. An ID with a photo must be scanned prior to approval. A background check is conducted through the Raptor Management System every time a volunteer signs-in at a school site. Please visit the Volunteer/Partnership Programs website for more information.

Rumor: Deltona Middle School is no longer on the list for being replaced.

June 27, 2017

The replacement of Deltona Middle is on the approved project list. The school will be replaced using funds from the Half-Cent Sales Tax Extension. Unfortunately, everything can't be built at the same time. Projects will be completed over the life of the 15-year sales tax, which is effective from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2031.
