The Florida Orchestra, Volusia All-County Orchestra Performing Combined Concert

The Volusia All-County Orchestra will get the unique opportunity to “play with the pros” as they perform side-by-side with the nationally-recognized The Florida Orchestra from Tampa as part of the 44th Annual Volusia All-County Orchestra Showcase. This event will take place on Monday, February 6, 7 p.m., at Peabody Auditorium, 600 Auditorium Blvd., Daytona Beach. The concert is free and open to the public.

This event features some of the finest musical talent in Volusia County Schools; the students performing in the two orchestras were selected after auditioning last fall.

Michael Francis, The Florida Orchestra’s Music Director, will be conducting both The Florida Orchestra and Sinfonietta Orchestra, consisting mostly of high school musicians. The mostly-middle school orchestra, known as the Festival Orchestra, will be performing at this concert as well. The Festival Orchestra will be conducted by Jennifer Zahn, orchestra director at Titusville High School in Brevard County. After performances by both VCS orchestras, the concert will conclude with a performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony by The Florida Orchestra.

The special collaboration with The Florida Orchestra is part of a two-day cultural residency by The Florida Orchestra, which will include performances of “Young People’s Concerts” for more than 4,000 Volusia County elementary students on Tuesday, February 7.
