Florida Future Educators of America Inducts New Members

The Volusia County Schools chapter of Florida Future Educators of America (FFEA) kicked off club membership by inducting new FFEA advisors for the 2017-18 school year.  Our “Grow Your Own Program” was established in 1986 and the candlelight induction ceremony has been a time honored tradition. Mrs. Melody Johnson, School Board chairman, participated in the induction ceremony , as well as Superintendent Russell and several cabinet members, who instilled the principles of FFEA: service, character, leadership, scholarship and commitment. After the ceremony, advisors and teachers held a workshop to discuss ideas for recruitment and fundraising for this year’s endeavors.
The ideology for FFEA is to create a club atmosphere where our current students will thrive within the art of education and hopefully return to the our school district as teachers in the future. To inspire the budding educators, Volusia hosts an annual district-wide FFEA conference. This year’s district conference is scheduled for Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Deland High School and centers around the Florida Department of Education’s state FFEA theme, Grow - Learn - Teach!  Student members and school chapters will compete in essay, display, scrapbook, speech, PowerPoint, public service announcement, lesson plan and the ever popular song, cheer and dance competitions. Chapters from across the district are invited to attend and compete in all categories!
