VCS Announces Superintendent’s Outstanding Achievement Award Winners

8/10/2016

The School District of Volusia County and FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools named Richard Shaw, principal’s secretary at Cypress Creek Elementary School, and Dee Dee Marquart, administrative secretary for Federal Programs/Grants Development, as the 2016 Superintendent’s Outstanding Achievement Award winners (see photos below).

Mr. Shaw is described in a letter of recommendation from Dr. Lifvendahl, principal of Cypress Creek Elementary, as a model employee with his commitment to hard work, outstanding communications and relationships.  In his own words, Mr. Shaw wrote in his application, “I am part of something much bigger; part of the learning environment as a whole where the entire school family thrives and can excel.”  Mr. Shaw is committed to the overall success of Cypress Creek Elementary, which has directly impacted student achievement, school improvement and family involvement.

Ms. Marquart is devoted to supporting her colleagues and department, going out of her way to help people in need. “She loves people, works hard and always tries to lift the spirits of those around her,” stated Leticia Roman, director of Federal Programs/Grants Development Services, in a letter of recommendation.  Ms. Marquart’s professionalism, dedication and attention to detail are apparent in the support and assistance she provides to her department, schools, the district and community.

The Superintendent’s Outstanding Achievement Award is co-sponsored annually by FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools and Volusia County Schools.  It was initiated to honor support staff members who have demonstrated outstanding commitment, teamwork, cooperation and innovation in their jobs.
