ACT - American College Testing Program

Many colleges and universities use the placement tests as part of their admission criteria. The American College Test (ACT) is one of the tests used for this purpose. The ACT measures student achievement in English, reading, science reasoning, and mathematics as well as a composite score and is intended to help predict academic performance in college. Summarizing individual scores into district and school averages enables district and school staff to monitor the level of academic preparation given to college-bound students. Because of the variability in the percentage of students taking the ACT from school to school, direct comparison of scores may be misleading.
