We are located on Florida's east coast, bordered on the west by the historic St. Johns River and by the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Our nationally recognized school district is the thirteenth largest in the state serving over 61,000 pre-K-12 students. Our District was awarded the designation of District Accreditation in 2004 and became the first school district in Florida and the third in the nation to receive such a distinction.
Volusia County Schools is the largest employer in the county with more than 8,000 teachers, administrators and support staff. Over 18,000 people serve as volunteers and we have an active and growing business partnership program.
The district continues to form significant partnerships with entities that promise the enhancement of student achievement. Examples include Professional Development Schools in partnership with local universities such as Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the University of Central Florida and Stetson University and the Career Connection in partnership with Daytona State College and the Workforce Development Board.
Our web pages provide a glimpse into the many exciting educational activities that promote student achievement and parent involvement. We invite you to explore our school district.
