Welcome to Multi-Tiered System of Supports

                                                                                        Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)

MTSS has been defined as  "a system where resources and services are organized efficiently on a continuum of intensity based on students’ academic and behavioral needs, whatever those needs might be."   In collaboration with specialists from the departments of English and Language Arts, Math, and ESE/Student Services, we have identified evidenced-based interventions and resources to move student performance forward.  We encourage you to use these standard protocol interventions and resources identified in the navigations links to the left when your students need extra support.

A critical underpinning of MTSS is the early identification of students who may be at risk of developing more serious problems in the future so that preventative and early intervention supports can be put into place.   Things to consider when buildilng your school's multi-tiered system of supports include the following:
Universal screening of academics and behavior
          Frequnt progress monitoring
Identification and implementaiton of evidenced-based interventions
Extensive knowledge of school and district resources

If you find that your students continue to need further supports after you have implemented interventions with fidelity, please access the VCS website for our Problem Solving Team process.

Thank you for all you do every day to support the needs of students in Volusia County Schools!
