    Congratulations to our Spelling Bee Winner

    Our Annual Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, January 23rd. We had 16 participants in this competition. Layla Lynch, Fourth Grader, was our winner and she will represent Osteen Elementary at the District Spelling Bee. Juliana Santana, Fifth Grader, was the runner- up. Congratulations to all of our competitors.

    School Wellness Plan 

    Osteen Elementary goals for the 2018-2019 School Wellness Plan includes the following ...

    1. Osteen Elementary School CEC club will maintain an edible garden while learning about plants, as well as having the experience of taking care of them.

    2. Osteen Elementary School will give students opportunities for physical activity through programs such as 20 minutes of recess/physical activity, required Physical Education activity periods, special school activities (The Beast Run, Walk to School Day and Field Day) and physical activity club (Running Club). Physical Education will make all students aware of bicycle safety as well as how to maintain safety as a pedestrian.

    3. Osteen Elementary School will provide a moderate physical activity for all participants of the Extended Day Enrichment Program.

    4. Osteen Elementary will participate in (Jump Rope for Heart) event to support the American Heart Association. During this event, our students will learn about the benefits of exercise as it relates to fighting cardiovascular disease.

    School Safety Procedures
    Osteen Elementary is working together with families to have a welcoming environment, while we also increase our ability to assist students, identify safety and security concerns. The parent loop gates will be locked from 8:15a.m. to 1:45a.m. daily. Please note that classes start at 7:55a.m..  Please read more about the new school safety procedures below.

    Emergency Situation Guide
    During and following an emergency situation, school and district officials must act quickly and follow established emergency protocols to safeguard students and staff, secure schools, and communicate accurate information in a timely manner. Parents can assist greatly by helping with preparation before the emergency.

    Parents in case of an emergency, Osteen Elementary is designated to relocate to Forrest Lake Elementary. Parents will always receive a phone call, text message or email in reference to this decision with specific directions for student pick up.
